More Able & Talented Provision
Our aims at Dene Academy include a commitment to providing a rich and varied curriculum for all of our pupils so that they will feel challenged by their work and rewarded by their results. This commitment extends to ensuring that our most able and talented pupils fulfil their potential.
Those pupils who are identified as being more academically able are closely monitored to ensure the right level of challenge in their work, encouraging self-confidence and independence in learning. A variety of differentiated classwork and home learning tasks promote the acquisition of skills, knowledge and understanding which foster critical and creative thought.
Whilst our prime concern is to cater for the academic needs of our most able and talented pupils, many benefit from the special events and classes provided through the support programme for targeted groups.
Activities offered include ‘Master Classes’ in: Maths, Science, English, MFL, Geography, History, Art, DT and STEM. Please see the Master class timetable for more information. We also offer a wide range of enrichment and engagement opportunities.
MAT Mastery Programme
At Dene Academy, we aim to identify and enable your child to reach their full potential. The Mastery Programme has been developed for our MAT students in KS3 and is comprised of four key elements:
After school Mastery Lessons – to challenge MAT students in subjects beyond the National Curriculum.
Challenging tasks in lessons – to enable MAT students to express themselves at a higher level of learning.
Personal Progress Monitoring – to develop opportunities so that MAT students can have conversations about how they wish to progress through Dene Academy and beyond.
Enrichment and Engagement Opportunities – to enable MAT students to experience learning through: trips, classroom based activities and outside visitors.
