Charity Events and Competitions

At Dene, we value the importance of charitable giving and helping those less fortunate. Each year we help to raise money for a variety of charities both locally and globally. Our recent charity events have included Macmillan Coffee Morning and Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal. This year, we also raised money for the charity ‘Choose Love’: a refugee charity which was promoted through our school of sanctuary project. In doing this, we make a difference to both our local and global community.

Dene Academy prides itself on encouraging a strong community both inside and outside of school. Healthy competition is encouraged through all aspects of the House system both inside and out of the classroom. 

Competitions are held weekly and co-inside with current and annual events, such as our themed weeks, Easter and Christmas holidays. Competition winners earn points for their house and have fun at the same time. Our competitions range from sporty to logical, with past competitions including the sally-up squat challenge, kindness board creation, keepy-ups, ‘don’t smash the egg’ and a ‘guess the book title’ quiz to name a few.
