The world of work is a fast paced and ever changing environment. With currently over 36.4 million Jobs in the United Kingdom, it is vital that all students are fully informed and prepared for making the choices, regarding their next steps after Dene Academy (Post-16).
At Dene, we aim to support all pupils so that their transition from school to their next steps on their careers journey is as smooth and uncomplicated as it can be.
Personal Independent Careers Guidance
We will ensure that in Year 10, all pupils will have a scheduled 1:1 appointment to discuss future intentions and careers. Their appointment will be with a member of the Career Wave team. The Career’s Wave team will be able to give them guidance and support, so that all pupils make the right choice for them.
Furthermore, Year 10 will also take part in the DurhamWorks Workplace Programme, a six hour training scheme to prepare them for the world or work.

Labour Market Information (LMI)
LMI refers to the data we receive about jobs and industries that helps us understand the economy. It provides an overview of growth areas in industry, patterns relating to employment and salaries. LMI information is available at a national, regional and local level.
Our region is home to a huge variety of businesses and organisations, which means young people have a lot of choice when it comes to their career path.
